About the Role
The Director of Business Operations is a senior leadership role responsible for end-to-end operational performance across business operations, supply chain, quality, and information technology within Codan’s defence electronics portfolio. This position plays a critical role in ensuring operational excellence in a highly regulated environment, driving performance across cost, quality and delivery while supporting business growth and program execution.
Leading a multi-disciplinary function, this role is accountable for building scalable operational capability, embedding robust systems and processes, and ensuring compliance with key regulatory frameworks including AS9100, ITAR/EAR, DFARS and CMMC. The position also plays a key role in integrating acquisitions and aligning operations to support a growing and evolving business.
Working closely with Program Management, corporate functions and executive stakeholders, the Director of Business Operations will ensure delivery against customer commitments while continuously improving operational efficiency and performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute the business operations strategy aligned to growth, cost, quality and delivery objectives.
- Lead end-to-end operational performance across strategic supply chain, quality, IT and business operations functions.
- Own integration of acquisitions into the operational framework, ensuring alignment and scalability.
- Act as the primary interface between local operations and global corporate services.
- Develop sourcing strategies, manage supplier risk and ensure compliance with FAR/DFARS requirements.
- Maintain compliance with AS9100 and ISO 9001 standards, including audits and certification requirements.
- Lead quality systems including RCCA, FRACAS, configuration management and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with ITAR/EAR export controls and cybersecurity requirements including NIST SP 800-171 and CMMC.
- Oversee IT operations and ensure alignment with enterprise systems and corporate standards.
- Partner with Program Management to meet contractual milestones and delivery requirements.
- Drive operational KPIs including on-time delivery, yield, quality, productivity and inventory performance.
- Ensure compliance with EHS, OSHA and facility security requirements.
About You
You are an experienced operational leader with a strong background in defense electronics and business operations, ideally within defense or aerospace environments. You bring a proven track record of leading multi-disciplinary teams and delivering operational performance in complex, highly regulated settings.
You have deep expertise in strategic supply chain relationships, quality and business operations, and are confident working with systems and frameworks such as AS9100, ISO 9001, MRP/ERP and SIOP. Your experience includes driving continuous improvement initiatives and leading teams through growth, change and operational transformation.
You are commercially astute, highly analytical and capable of influencing senior stakeholders across the business. You are comfortable operating at both a strategic and operational level, ensuring strong execution while building scalable systems and processes.
You hold a degree in Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain or a related discipline, and bring extensive leadership experience with complex defense electronics products. Postgraduate qualifications or Lean/Six Sigma certification will be highly regarded.
U.S. citizenship is required due to the handling of export-controlled materials, and the successful candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Secret security clearance.
