About the Role
Reporting to the Procurement Manager – NPI, the NPI Procurement Officer plays a critical role in supporting New Product Introduction activities across the Codan organisation. You will provide both technical and commercial procurement expertise to engineering and internal stakeholders, enabling efficient prototype development and ensuring a smooth transition into pre-production and mass manufacturing.
This role is responsible for end-to-end procurement support throughout the product lifecycle—from early design engagement through to product launch—ensuring materials are sourced cost-effectively, compliantly, and on time.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner cross-functionally with engineering, operations, and internal purchasing teams to support New Product Introduction from design phase through to production launch.
- Deliver full-cycle procurement activities including sourcing, RFQs, supplier evaluation and onboarding, BOM analysis, compliance, cost roll-ups, purchase order placement, delivery tracking, supplier performance monitoring, and supplier relationship management (SRM).
- Lead and coordinate procurement activities to meet NPI, internal, and external project timelines, including management of engineering changes, ECOs, prototyping, and sampling activities.
- Source, evaluate, recommend, and establish new suppliers to support evolving technology and product requirements.
- Define and continuously improve standard NPI procurement processes, stakeholder engagement models, and develop, track, and report key performance indicators.
- Achieve cost savings through effective supplier negotiations, strategic sourcing, and cost control initiatives while maintaining quality standards and delivering NPIs within budget.
- Attend relevant conferences and trade shows to stay abreast of emerging technologies and develop new supplier relationships.
About You
You are an experienced, proactive procurement professional with a strong track record supporting engineering projects and New Product Introductions in a fast-paced environment. You take ownership of the NPI procurement process and are skilled at delivering innovative sourcing solutions to ensure the timely availability of critical materials.
With a strong commercial mindset, you excel in supplier negotiations, strategic sourcing, and cost management, while maintaining a focus on quality, compliance, and delivery performance. You are comfortable managing the full procurement lifecycle and enjoy building effective relationships with both internal stakeholders and external suppliers.
You will also bring a structured, process-driven approach, contributing to the development of procurement standards, KPIs, and inventory optimisation strategies to balance cost, availability, and risk.
Tertiary qualifications in Procurement, Supply Chain Management, or a related technical or engineering discipline will be highly regarded.
If you’re ready to make a meaningful impact and play a key role in bringing new products to market, we’d love to hear from you.
