About the role

Interstate relocation assistance is available for the right candidate — join Codan in Adelaide as a Electronics Manufacturing Engineer and play a critical hands-on role in delivering high-quality, reliable electronic products.

This is a newly created position reporting to the Production Manager. You will be responsible for the hands-on diagnosis, repair, rework, and refurbishment of non-conforming electronic assemblies, while also driving corrective actions and continuous improvement across the manufacturing environment.

Unlike a traditional design-focused engineering role, this position is firmly embedded on the production floor, combining advanced electronics repair and soldering expertise with manufacturing problem-solving, root cause analysis, and team leadership.

Key responsibilities

  • Coordinate daily repair and rework priorities in collaboration with the Production Manager.
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve complex electronic faults using appropriate diagnostic and test equipment.
  • Perform hands-on repair and rework of electronic assemblies, including PCB-level fault finding and component replacement.
  • Execute high-precision soldering and rework on microelectronics, including miniature BGAs, 0201 components, and fine-pitch devices.
  • Investigate manufacturing defects and failures, determine root causes, and implement robust corrective and preventative actions.
  • Conduct both electronic and mechanical repairs in accordance with defined quality, safety, and workmanship standards.
  • Refurbish and upgrade electronic products, including disassembly, firmware/software installation, configuration, and functional testing.
  • Partner with production and quality teams to improve manufacturability, yield, and product reliability.
  • Identify and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives aligned with Lean Manufacturing principles.
  • Coach and mentor production technicians, lifting technical capability and reinforcing best-practice repair and rework standards.

About you

This role is ideal for a hands-on electronics professional who wants to step into an engineering-aligned manufacturing role without giving up the tools. You may currently be a Senior Electronics Technician, Manufacturing Engineer, or Production Engineer with strong repair expertise.

You will bring:

  • Proven experience in an electronics manufacturing or production assembly environment.
  • Advanced hands-on skills in electronic fault finding, PCB repair, and microelectronics soldering.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to high-quality workmanship.
  • A solid understanding of manufacturing principles such as Continuous Improvement, Lean Manufacturing, and defect prevention.
  • The confidence to analyse problems, influence process improvements, and support others technically on the production floor.
  • Formal engineering qualifications are advantageous but not essential — practical capability, repair expertise, and manufacturing mindset are critical.

If you have the core technical skills and the drive to grow, Codan is committed to supporting you with further training and development. Join a market-leading organisation where hands-on expertise is valued, innovation is encouraged, and technical excellence matters.
