About the Role

The Director, Bids and Integrated Solutions is responsible for leading the end-to-end development, coordination, and submission of high-quality, compliant, and competitive tenders within the Defence sector.

This role will drive bid strategy, governance, solution development, and cross-functional collaboration to secure contracts and support strategic growth. You will play a key role in shaping Defence opportunities, aligning customer requirements with Codan DTC capability, and positioning the business for success in complex and highly regulated procurement environments.

You will also oversee third-party product integration, ensuring external technologies are evaluated, aligned, and effectively incorporated into solutions that meet Defence requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the full bid lifecycle from opportunity identification through to submission, award, and post-bid review.
  • Develop and execute bid strategies, including win themes, value propositions, and competitive positioning.
  • Shape customer requirements and solution strategies in support of Defence opportunities and future programs.
  • Ensure compliance with Defence procurement frameworks, including CPRs, ASDEFCON, and security requirements.
  • Analyse tender documentation to identify scope, risks, opportunities, and commercial implications.
  • Develop high-quality proposal content, including technical responses, project plans, solution descriptions, and commercial models.
  • Coordinate internal stakeholders across engineering, sales, product, operations, and finance.
  • Manage relationships with Defence stakeholders, primes, industry partners, subcontractors, and suppliers.
  • Oversee pricing strategies, subcontractor inputs, and contract risk considerations.
  • Lead the evaluation, selection, and integration of third-party technologies and suppliers.
  • Maintain bid governance processes, including reviews, approvals, compliance checks, and executive briefings.
  • Drive continuous improvement through bid reviews, knowledge management, lessons learned, and performance tracking.

About You

You will be a proven leader with a strong track record of delivering successful Defence tenders within complex and highly regulated environments.

You will bring:

  • Extensive knowledge of Defence procurement frameworks, including ASDEFCON, Commonwealth Procurement Rules, and Defence security requirements.
  • Demonstrated experience developing compliant, competitive, and compelling proposals.
  • Strong commercial awareness and the ability to assess risks, opportunities, and contract implications.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence and align cross-functional teams, senior leaders, customers, primes, and industry partners.
  • Experience working with integrated technical solutions and third-party technologies, including capability assessment and technical alignment.
  • Strong written communication skills and the ability to produce clear, persuasive, and high-quality proposal content.
  • A detail-oriented, commercially astute, and outcomes-focused approach.
  • The ability to operate effectively under pressure and manage competing deadlines.
