About the role

 

Reporting directly to the Executive General Manager – Strategy, Corporate Development and M&A, this newly established role assists and supports the development and implementation of our corporate strategy, including the identification and execution of global investment and acquisition opportunities.

 

Key responsibilities will include:

 

  • Assist in the preparation, and periodic review, of Codan’s corporate strategic framework.
  • Conduct research and analysis on prospective investments and acquisitions.
  • Assist with transaction execution including pre-deal strategy, due diligence, commercial negotiations and transaction implementation and integration.
  • Dissect financial statements, identify core value drivers and develop projections of company earnings with clearly articulated assumptions.
  • Assist in the development of financial models of potential investment and acquisition opportunities to assess risk, value and returns.
  • Prepare and review monthly board materials.
  • Work with business units to monitor the integration and performance of investee / acquired companies.
  • Assist with other projects for our Board and business units as required.

 

About You

 

To be successful in your application for this engaging position, you should have 1-2 years experience in transactional and/or strategy experience within a similar role in an in-house corporate development team, finance & accounting, management consulting or other professional transaction services environment. Additionally, you will have high level commercial acumen and have a strong understanding of financial modelling coupled with an ability to critically analyse, dissect, and present complex data and information.

This position will require excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels of the business and across different business units, disciplines, and time zones. Having a tertiary qualification in finance, law, engineering or aligned discipline, although not considered mandatory, would be highly beneficial.
