Salary Range: $150,000 - $200,000

 

About the Role

 

As a Principal Electrical Engineer, you will serve as a technical authority for Kägwerks' military communications product portfolio, providing leadership across complex electronic systems, embedded platforms, and next-generation defense technologies.

This role combines deep technical expertise with strategic influence and is responsible for defining system-level architectures, guiding long-term technology direction, and making critical design decisions that impact product performance, reliability, and future capabilities. You will lead complex engineering initiatives spanning multiple disciplines, working closely with engineering leadership, product management, and executive stakeholders to shape technology roadmaps and support business growth.

Working alongside highly skilled engineers across electrical, firmware, mechanical, systems, and manufacturing disciplines, you will drive innovation while ensuring mission-critical products meet the demanding requirements of military and operational environments.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Serve as the technical authority for major product lines, providing guidance on architecture, design decisions, and technical risk management.
  • Define system-level electrical architectures and establish long-term technical direction for future product development.
  • Lead cross-functional engineering initiatives, complex technical investigations, and resolution of critical product issues.
  • Drive high-risk design reviews and provide technical leadership for complex development programs.
  • Lead electrical architecture and system design for ruggedized military electronic products and embedded platforms.
  • Develop and review mixed-signal, digital, analog, and power electronics designs.
  • Drive schematic design, PCB layout, component selection, and system integration.
  • Conduct signal integrity, power integrity, thermal, and reliability analyses.
  • Lead prototype bring-up, debugging, verification, EMI/EMC, and qualification testing.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to deliver mission-ready products.
  • Partner with engineering leadership and product management to influence product strategy, technology investments, and roadmap planning.
  • Establish and promote engineering best practices, design standards, and development methodologies.
  • Mentor senior engineers and technical leads while supporting capability development across engineering teams.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and identify opportunities to enhance future product capabilities and performance.

 

About You

 

You are recognized as a technical leader within your field, with a proven track record of defining architectures, leading complex engineering programs, and influencing strategic technology decisions. You thrive in environments where you can combine hands-on technical expertise with leadership, mentoring, and long-term product vision.

Your background includes digital and analog circuit design, power electronics, embedded systems, high-speed design, EMI/EMC mitigation, environmental qualification testing, and complex system integration. Experience with tools such as Altium, Cadence, SPICE, MATLAB, or similar is expected.

You have demonstrated success leading multidisciplinary engineering teams through challenging technical problems, balancing innovation with practical execution. Your ability to influence stakeholders, guide technical direction, and build engineering capability makes you a trusted advisor to both engineering teams and business leadership.

U.S. citizenship is required and the successful candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Secret security clearance.
