About the Role
Reporting to the Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO), the Director People & Reward is responsible for leading Human Resources across the APAC region while providing enterprise-wide leadership for Codan’s remuneration and reward strategy.
This leadership role combines regional HR leadership with ownership of Codan’s global reward frameworks. Leading the APAC HR team to partner with business leaders to build workforce capability, strengthen leadership effectiveness, and embed consistent people practices across the region.
The position is accountable for the development and governance of Codan’s remuneration and reward strategy, including job architecture, salary structures, market benchmarking, remuneration governance, pay equity, and future-state reward programs. As a member of the HR Senior Leadership Team, this role plays a key part in advancing Codan’s HR transformation agenda and ensuring people and reward practices are aligned to business strategy and growth objectives.
It is preferred this role is based in our Head office location in Mawson Lakes (South Australia); co-located with our Senior Leadership and APAC HR team members. Relocation support to Adelaide will be considered for the candidate who offers the capability and experience sought for this role.
Key Responsibilities
Lead, coach, and develop the APAC Regional HR team to:
- Deliver effective HR support, build organisational capability, and drive strategic people outcomes.
- Support workforce planning, leadership capability, performance, talent, succession, and organisational effectiveness.
- Strengthen the capability of the HR function by transitioning from transactional service delivery to strategic workforce and organisational partnering.
Lead the development, implementation, and governance of Codan’s global remuneration and reward strategy:
- Design and maintain remuneration frameworks, salary structures, pay bands, job architecture, and reward governance processes that are aligned, scalable, and commercially sustainable.
- Lead annual remuneration review processes, including merit planning, calibration, governance, and performance alignment
- Drive market benchmarking, remuneration analytics, and workforce insights to support strategic decision-making and external competitiveness.
- Establish and monitor pay equity, pay transparency, and remuneration compliance frameworks across the Group.
- Partner with Finance on workforce cost forecasting, remuneration budgeting, incentive planning, and reward modelling.
Contribute to Codan’s HR transformation agenda through the implementation of scalable people frameworks, systems, and processes that improve organisational effectiveness and business performance.
About You
This role requires an experienced HR and Reward leader with a strong track record of developing, deploying and governing remuneration frameworks within complex, multi-site, or global organisations. Deep expertise across remuneration strategy, reward governance, job architecture, salary structures, market benchmarking, pay equity, executive remuneration, and workforce analytics is essential.
Success in the role will come from the ability to partner effectively with leadership, aligning reward frameworks with business strategy, organisational design, workforce planning, and talent outcomes. The position requires an individual who can operate strategically while maintaining a strong focus on execution, balancing commercial objectives, employee experience, governance requirements, and market competitiveness.
Strong analytical capability and commercial acumen are critical, with the ability to translate workforce and remuneration data into meaningful insights that support decision-making. The role requires exceptional stakeholder management skills, credibility, and the ability to influence and challenge constructively across all levels of the organisation.
In addition to reward expertise, experience leading HR teams and supporting organisations through growth, transformation, and change is important. A demonstrated ability to build capability, develop high-performing teams, and implement people frameworks that drive organisational performance will be highly valued.
